Kommattivaara Ski Resort is a family-owned business located in Sodankylä. Its story began in autumn 1993, when Jouko “Jokkeri” Hietala opened the slopes for the first time.

We are one of the oldest privately owned ski resorts in Finland, and today the business is already run by the second generation. The resort is operated by sons Ollimatti and Teemu, with their mother Tarja also playing a key role – taking care of the café, baking doughnuts and preparing pizzas. The third generation is already growing into the family business.

At Kommattivaara Ski Resort, service is genuinely warm and personal. We are always happy to help, even with small things – like fastening your ski boots. What matters most to us is that every visitor feels welcome and enjoys their time on the slopes.
